East Boulder
East Boulder
As you move away from the mountains in Boulder county, the landscape begins to change quite a bit, but the beauty remains. More of the front range of the Rocky Mountains come in to view, and the streams and lakes become more abundant. It’s a great area to go hiking, fishing, and certainly take pictures.
There are many ponds and wildlife habitats in East Boulder. One of my favorites in the Sawhill Ponds area. Here I captured a tranquil but chilly late winter sunrise. A bit of mist, cool winter sunrise colors, and lots of calm created a bit of an ethereal scene.
Reflections Of Cold
Goodnight Moon
The full moon sets over a pond in East Boulder on a warm summer morning. I loved the combination of the soft colors in the sky, the reflection in the calm waters of the pond, and the way the clouds seemed to be a blanket for the moon’s rest.
Into the Blue
One of the more abstract photos I’ve taken, on one of the more chilly mornings I’ve been out for sunrise. The dock at Coot Lake was surrounded by fog just before sunrise. It was also covered in frost given the near zero degree temperatures. The lake was covered in ice, and along with the fog was doing its best to give the blue hour its name. Just across the lake you can barely see the trees, the mountains behind remain hidden by the fog.
Plains to Peaks in Gold
With a wonderful view of the front range mountains, East Boulder is a great place for sunset. The local ponds and creeks attract a good deal of wildlife. Enjoying a warm summer’s night, listening to the frogs and crickets, watching the ducks and deer all the while the sun goes down is a great opportunity for a stolen moment in East Boulder.
